Although there are many legends surrounding the awakening that is kava, our story begins on the Island of Maywoe. Land of the Kings, with folklore of Gods gifting the people of earth with abundances & punishments rooted on worldly karmas.

We begin our story with a pair of orphaned siblings. Living organically by the shackles of the jungle. Life was challenging for these children, but the tropical beauty and island abundance made life fruitful.

Sadly, one day the young boy found his sister lifeless. He honored her life by creating a grave; less common than they. Adorned with exotic stones, wood and flowers found in the deep dark jungles of Tonga. The boy enjoyed his tribute for his sister and visited often. As the years passed, a single plant, sprouted from her grave. Unlike other plants, the boy, enjoyed watching this tiny green bloom grow. But then, something happened.

A tiny lizard nibbled on the roots of the plant, only to become limp and what seemed to be lifeless. The boy, now a man. Confused and conflicted by grief, chewed the bark too. Astonished, his mind quickly awakened.

The lizard hadn’t died.

This was a gift from the Gods; left in his sisters' honor. This was Kava.

A sprout of life, that soon became a sacred drink that molded the oceanic region into a sacred place, where the plants from the Gods would grow and mortal life would be a bit more blessed.

🌱 ✨ @burmakava 🍵 🏝️

You walk into @burmakava and it’s like the moment in Chronicles of Narnia when Lucy walks through the closet. It’s got a jungle-cosmic-cozy-charming-visceral vibe. You don’t know anyone (yet) but you feel like you know everyone. There is a pool game going on (they host pool competitions). There is a small business meeting in the back in their private VIP room. A food vendor is selling Gourmet 😉 vegan food. Open laptops set atop the bar as people do work or write blogs. A yoga session is taking place in the attached courtyard. The music is always set to the right vibe and when you’re there you feel like you’re right where you need to be.

Kava is a small shrub grown in Pacific Islands. Islanders have used kava plants for centuries in social rituals, religious ceremonies, and medical purposes. The root and stump of the plant are ground down and made into a natural, non-alcoholic beverage. When consumed, the effect of the active ingredients in the kava plant is psychological and physiological relaxation. Kava root drinks relax the mind and body and induce a sense of calm and euphoria.

The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and always knows what to recommend. I get kava on tap but I typically ask the Kava tender what they suggest that day. Morning, day or night (open ‘til 2) you need make your way to Burma. Go by yourself the first time, then bring a friend. I promise you’ll become a regular.

Eat local, shop local, and stay healthy 💪 🌱

Enjoy!

Burma Kava Company was established in 2021 by 3 best friends in SW Florida.

Our why:

Isa vibe. Energy is real, it can be measured and felt. Creating a respectable, comforting, and peaceful environment for our community, followed with the intention to do better, be better, and to give back was our ‘why’. So naturally, we needed a name that would represent our brand, mission and style, something meaningful.

Picking our Name,

We had quite the journey landing upon a name that would be our face and guiding light through SWFL. Our Original plan was completely derailed, but sometimes obstacles arise for the better, and that being said, although getting on our feet was met with much contempt, we are proud to say we gracefully went with the flow. And just like all good VS evil stories, the battle was unjust and goodness prevailed.

The rain clouds didn’t last long and before you knew it we were back on cloud nine, finally and officially naming our new business

Burma Kava Company.

So why Burma Kava?

Although our travels have yet to bring us to Myanmar; formally known as Burma, that in itself creates a healthy rostrum of admiration.

We wanted the oceaniac/asian influence to dominate our brand because that’s where our plants originate. We wanted to have a mission, based on giving back, something that would enrich our world, a rooted society brought together by mutual missions of betterment.

So we searched until we found, this land of the lost filled with sensations of peace & glory. That would be our name.

Many people will tell you that falling in love with Burma will change your life, and she did, and we cant wait to share her story with you. She’s our, never never land.

That's why, our mission, the brand, our vibe....Burma Kava Company.
